I build software that feels considered, from the data model to the last 20 milliseconds of an animation.

Selected Work

A few projects that show the range of my skills. Each one has a case page explaining what the problem actually was and what i built to solve it.

Timeline

Where I have been, in the order it happened. The rail fills as you read.

  1. MilestoneOct 2026

    Named Cybersecurity Talent for Schärding

    IKT-Sicherheitskonferenz, Linz

Invited to the IKT security conference in Linz, where the certificate was handed to me by Thomas Stelzer, the governor of Upper Austria.

    • Security
  2. MilestoneSep 2026

    Moved into mobile development

    OpenParaGraph

Started Deine Rechte, my first mobile app: a Flutter client for Android and iOS that makes Austrian federal law readable. A new platform and a new language, built on the same habits as my web work.

    • Flutter
    • Dart
    • Mobile
  3. MilestoneAug 2026

Put my own mail server online

    Self-hosted

Mail for my own domain on a server I run myself, next to the MCP server my assistant uses to read my notes. Most of what I know about DNS and TLS I learned that month.

    • Stalwart
    • Caddy
    • DNS
  4. MilestoneMay 2026

    First commit on Sanube Pulse

    Project

An internal planning tool where every project is a canvas. It has been in daily use since, and it is the largest thing I have built on my own.

    • Next.js
    • React Flow
    • PostgreSQL
  5. Study2025

    Got into security

    TryHackMe

Spent a good part of the year working through TryHackMe rooms, learning how systems actually get broken into.

    • Security
    • TryHackMe
  6. Milestone2024

Built a game the company still takes to every trade fair

    Schwarzmüller

Written in Godot during the first three months of my apprenticeship. It has been on the stand at every fair since, and it was the first thing I made at work that I would call a real success.

    • Godot
  7. Work2024 — Present

    Apprenticeship

    Schwarzmüller

Where writing code went from something I did on my own to something I do for a living.

  8. Milestone2023

    Started writing code

    GitHub

My first commits, and the point where being curious about computers turned into building things with them.

About

Julian Sallaberger with Maria, outdoors in front of a birch tree

I am a full-stack developer based in Austria, most at home in TypeScript and most interested in the seam between the data and the interface — the part where a good schema quietly makes the frontend easy, or a bad one makes it impossible.

I work best when I can see the thing running. I build the ugly end-to-end version first, put it in front of someone, and let what breaks decide what to build properly. Most of what I know about error states I learned from watching people hit them.

Away from the keyboard I cook a lot, which is where the recipe app came from, and I keep an e-ink board by my door telling me when the next tram leaves, which is where I learned that the interesting part of any integration is what happens when the other side goes down.
